Festival Buenos Aires Tango

12-21 Sept. The art of tango – music and dance – is celebrated by professional dancers and musicians and by amateurs who can take part in classes or simple dance evenings at a specially created “milonga” with a true Argentinean atmosphere.

Buenos Aires Tango Festival comes to life in halls, foyers, corridors and other spaces of the Parco della Musica in collaboration with the city of Buenos Aires that traditionally hosts the world’s most important annual tango festival. Many famous artists come to Rome from the Argentinean capital to present a rich calendar of performances, dance classes, lectures, exhibitions as well as a special “Tangheria” that offers a taste of the atmosphere in the night clubs and the milongas of Buenos Aires.

Tango fans will recognise the names Daniel “Pipì” Piazzolla, the Cuarteto La Bordona, Juan Villareal, tango dance champions Milena Plebs and David Alejandro Palo, Horacio Godoy and Magdalena Gutiérrez Calviño. Two interesting novelties this year are represented by a performance by winners of the Campeonato de Campeones and a new Italian Tango championship open to all tango dancers.
