Ferrara is gaining a reputation for its high-quality dance season and cycles dedicated to contemporary dance. Prima Visione 2003 is the name of a mini festival that sees the debut of an exciting work entitled Davant. It is the result of a collaboration between the choreographer Cherkaoui and dancers Juan Kruz dei Garaio Esnaola, Luc Dunberry and Damien Jalet. Cherkaoui met Jalet at Alain Patels Ballets Contemporains de la B and the other dancers at the Sasha Waltz Berlin company. The outcome which has been described as a "quartet a cappella" is a clever mix of humour, transformation and excellent dance.
