Ukraine: Italy closes airspace to Russian planes

Ukraine government to receive €110 million in aid from Italy.

Italy is closing its airspace to Russian aircraft, the prime minister's office said on Sunday, in response to Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Italy is the latest European country to adopt the measure, following Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Ireland and the UK.

Italian foreign minister Luigi Di Maio announced on Sunday that the government is sending €110 million in aid to the government in Kyiv "immediately" as a "concrete expression of Italy's solidarity and support for a people with whom we have a fraternal relationship."
