Tom Hanks to be honoured at Rome Film Fest

Meryl Streep among stars announced for Rome Film Fest in October.

Academy Award winners Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep will be among the top Hollywood stars to grace the red carpet at the 11th Rome Film Fest, whose line-up was announced at a preview on 21 June.

The festival, which is scheduled from 13-23 October, will see Hanks receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, together with a retrospective screening of his films.

The Rome Film Fest will also welcome other leading cultural figures such as Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and movie director David Mamet, New York writer and playwright Don DeLillo, and internationally-renowned Polish-American architect Daniel Libeskind.

The programme also includes a special tribute will be devoted to Italian director Luigi Comencini, on the one hundredth anniversary of his birth.

This year's festival will be one day longer than usual, with additional events planned outside its base at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.

The full festival programme will be announced in September.
