New Vatican Museums website

Multimedia website presented by director of Vatican Museums.

The Vatican Museums' new multimedia website was presented on 23 January by the museums' recently-installed director, Barbara Jatta.

The new website, which is more user-friendly than the previous version, contains 4,000 images of Vatican treasures, more than 50 videos and virtual tours, and is available in Italian, English, French, Spanish and German.

Describing the website as "work in progress", Jatta said she hopes that images of all 20,000 works on display in the Vatican Museums can be made available for online consultation over the course of 2017.

The site, which has taken almost three years to complete, has five main categories: Pope's Museums, Collections, Villas and Gardens, Visit the Museums, and Events and News.

The presentation of the website was accompanied by the launch of the first digital newsletter of the Vatican Museums and the opening of an official Vatican YouTube channel.
