House of the Vestal Virgins restored
The House of the Vestal Virgins in the Roman Forum, which has been out of bounds for 20 years, has reopened to the public. Situated at the foot of the Palatine, it was close to the Temple of Vesta, the goddess of the hearth, whose worship lasted from about 700BC to 400AD.
The house was once a simple abode for the six vestal virgins
