Numerous celebrities grace the red carpet at the Rome Film Festival
The Rome Film Festival has announced the names of the stars who will appear at the Auditorium Parco della Musica during the event which takes place from 16-25 October.
Two Oscar-winning actors will attend the festival during the first days: Benicio del Toro, star of Traffic and Che, and Kevin Costner, star of international hits such as Dances with Wolves, The Untouchables and The Bodyguard. Costner will meet the audience on Friday 24 October at 16.00 in the Sala Sinopoli.
Other Hollywood actors to walk the red carpet include Richard Gere, star of American Gigolo, An Officer and a Gentleman, and Pretty Woman; Willem Dafoe, acclaimed for his roles in films such as Platoon and The English Patient; and British actor Clive Owen who will lead a master class on 18 October at 18.00 in Sala Petrassi.
On the first weekend, the stars to appear in Rome include Rooney Mara, known for her roles in The Social Network, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Her; Guillaume Canet, French actor, director, producer and screenwriter who starred in The Beach; and celebrated actress Geraldine Chaplin who has starred in films for the last 60 years, from Martin Scorsese’s The Age of Innocence to David Lean’s Doctor Zhivago. Chaplin will meet the audience on Wednesday 22 October at 18.00 at the Teatro Studio Gianni Borgna.
Younger movie fans will be pleased to see Lily Collins, known for her role in the film Mirror Mirror; television and film actress Claudia Traisac; Josh Hutcherson, who starred in Bridge to Terabithia and The Kids Are All Right; Sam Claflin who has starred in films Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Snow White and the Huntsman as well as in the television series The Pillars of the Earth. Also on the red carpet will be Simon Merrells, the British actor known for his role in the TV series Spartacus.
