Brazilian director to receive Marc’Aurelio Award for Lifetime Achievement
The award-winning Brazilian director, screenwriter and producer Walter Salles will receive the Marc’Aurelio Award for Lifetime Achievement at the ninth Rome Film Festival, taking place at the Auditorium Parco della Musica from 16-25 October.
On the occasion of the award ceremony Salles will participate in a public conversation with the festival's artistic director Marco Müller and Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke.
Salles will also present the world premiere screening of his new film Jia Zhangke, un gars de Fenyang, a film about Zhangke who Salles considers “the most important contemporary filmmaker”.
Müller describes Salles, the director of The Motorcycle Diaries, as undoubtedly "the most complete and complex personality in glocal cinema."
