24-26 Feb 2005. This is now the fifth edition of the Plantes Musiques festival running at la Maison des cultures du monde and the word has that a new look is on the cards. The musical extravaganza takes the form of a series of shows in Paris and then a nationwide tour. A compilation CD on the Modal label of featured artists will eventually make an appearance after the tour. All the arts connected in some way to the music world find a place at the festival producing a combination of styles and artists that results in a rare intensity. Any pre-existing barriers between cultures and innovative art based on music have been pulled down. La Maison des cultures du monde is an arts centre sponsored by the French Ministry of Culture to promote the knowledge and understanding of foreign culture. Tickets cost 14 or 7 with reductions. Performances start at 20:30.
