27 Sept-25 Oct 2009. This festival dedicated to symphonic and chamber music directed by Carlo Frajese has inaugurated its 24th edition. Its principal vocation is to provide a launchpad for new talents but its long programme includes a handful of renowned names in the music panorama and a cycle of lectures and seminaries which are open to the public. Events to look out for include a recital by young cellist Daminano Scarpa who performs music by Beethoven, Debussy, Sollima and Prokofiev accompanied by award-winning pianist Pierluigi Piran (17 Oct). The event that closes the festival is a concert by the State Symphony Orchestra of Bacau conducted by Carlo Frajese (25 Oct).
