05 Nov-08 Nov 2009. This is the fifth edition of a festival dedicated to film-makers across Italy. The theme is Liquid Modernity as conceived by the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman - a term for the present condition of the world compared to the "solid" modernity of the past. According to Bauman, the passage from "solid" to "liquid" modernity has created a new and unprecedented setting for individual life pursuits and a series of challenges never before encountered. The aim of the festival is to gather individual "liquid" experiences in the search for a common response to an alienating social context. There is also a series of meetings with film directors and a handful of music events. The international section includes works from Argentina, Columbia, Mexico, Spain, Belgium, UK, Japan, the Czech Republic, Peru and Poland.
