8 March-29 May 2005. From the beginning of March 2005, an exhibition of Albrecht Drers work, titled Masterpieces from the Albertina will be on show at the Prado. The show is a unique chance to most of Drers masterpieces from the main collection at the Albertina in Vienna, exhibited here for the first time in Spain. The Albertina houses the greatest collection of prints and drawings by the Drer anywhere in the world. Indeed, this is the first time that the Albertina has ever lent such a large range of works by the artist to a foreign gallery or museum. Some 58 drawings and 27 prints rarely on display including masterworks of Drer's graphic art, offer visitors a chronological and thematic overview of the great Viennese painters career. His range of interests and exceptional technical skill shows throughout the exhibition. Drer excelled in many mediums with engravings, oil painting, pencil, pen, silverpoint drawing, watercolours and woodcuts all featured in the retrospective.
