Rome's outgoing mayor answers prosecutor's questions on expense spending.
Ignazio Marino, Rome's outgoing mayor, was questioned on 19 October by the public prosecutor over his controversial municipal expenses. He asked to be heard and Marino's lawyer has pointed out that he is not registered as being under investigation for any crimes but appeared as a witness to the facts contested.
An investigation was launched into Marino's use of a city credit card after he published his expenses online in the "interests of transparency."
When supposed inaccuracies emerged the Movimento 5 Stelle party made an official report to the prosecutors' office, which is now investigating the case.
The apparent inconsistencies in the mayor's expenses triggered his resignation on 8 October.
