Rome film festival

Now in his second year as artistic director, Marco Müller presents the eighth edition of Rome's film festival at the Auditorium Parco della Musica with parallel events at the MAXXI Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XX Secolo.

The competition section includes the world premiere of 16 feature films including Jean-Marc Vallee’s Dallas Buyer’s Club and Spike Jonze’s Her, while the out-of-competition section features 12 international and European premieres such as Francis Laurence’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson who will be gracing the red carpet along with Liam Hemsworth.

The CinemaXXI category, which celebrates cinematic innovation and is being judged by US director Larry Clark, includes Fear of Falling by Jonathan Demme.

The Prospects Doc Italy section showcases new trends in Italian documentary filmmaking with eight feature-length premiere films.

The autonomous side event Alice nella città caters to a younger audience with 14 international and European premiere films.

American director James Gray chairs a panel of seven judges who will award Golden Marc’Aurelio prizes for best film, best director, special jury prize, best actor and best actress, among other awards.

Attendees can also vote electronically for their favourite movie to win the BNL audience award.
