The legendary English theatre and film director Peter Brook will appear at a public event at Rome's Teatro Valle Occupato on Friday 12 April at 20.00.

The encounter will be followed by a screening of "The Tightrope", the film by Simon Brook about his father's theatrical work.

Built in 1727, the historic theatre has been occupied by employees since June 2011 in protest over its proposed privatisation.

By presenting the film in person, organisers say the artist is endorsing Teatro Valle Occupato.

The event takes place in collaboration with the French Academy - Villa Medici and La Sapienza Università di Roma.
