15-30 Sept. The Belgian Academy in Rome hosts an international project on walls and words, curated by Joris Wouters, Joke van den Brandt and Emiliano Biagio Manzillo.
55 words provided by 55 people who have a special connection with the Italian language: writers, poets, translators, journalists, teachers and artists. Their words were subsequently processed graphically by 55 calligraphers from 13 different countries and then transposed on 55 Italians walls.
Involving dialogue and cultural collaboration, the interdisciplinary project features walls from Genoa to Palermo, providing a testament to the power of language and contrasting the rough beauty of walls with the elegance of calligraphy.
