FAI tour of Insula Aracoeli

Volunteers from FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) are conducting free guided tours of the Insula Aracoeli on Saturday 23 November from 10.00-17.30 (last entry 17.00).

The second-century Roman building is located on Via del Teatro di Marcello between the Vittoriano and the Ara Coeli steps in central Rome, and survived the demolition programme during the Fascist regime of the 1930s.

The Cosa FAI oggi? tour is part of a series designed to highlight little-known archaeological sites in Rome and is the result of collaboration between FAI and the city's cultural authorities.

Similar to Britain’s National Trust, FAI works to preserve and promote Italy’s cultural heritage through education, restoration and annual open days, known in particular for its hugely popular Spring Day.
