American Independence Day celebrations in Rome

On Saturday 6 July the American International Club of Rome (AICR) holds its annual American Independence Day Celebration for all Americans and international friends of America, at an address in Rome from 17.00 until dusk. Advance ticket purchase is necessary by Wednesday 3 July, either in person at the AICR office on Via Parigi 11, by 17.00, or by bank transfer until late that evening. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The family-friendly open air event includes children's games, a raffle and live music. American food and beverages will be served throughout the evening which ends with a sparkler finale. For security reasons the exact address and location will be provided after ticket purchase. However organisers say the party will be in the vicinity of Piazza dei Giuochi Delfici, near the start of Via Cassia, and is accessible by public transport. For full details including prices see the AICR website

There will also be activities taking place that day at city centre venues frequented by Americans in Rome. Scholars Lounge on Via del Plebsicito is hosting a Bon Jovi tribute band while the Hard Rock Cafe on Via Veneto is serving a special Independence Day menu all day.

Also that night, the veteran American musician Iggy Pop, considered the "Godfather of Punk", performs at Rock in Roma.

The American embassy in Rome will be closed on 4 July.
