American Academy in Rome
Exhibition entitled nine seventeen by Indian artist Prabhavathi Meppayil, following her participation in Massimiliano Gioni’s The Encyclopedic Palace at the 55th Venice Biennale last year.
Meppayil paints with lime gesso, using goldsmith's tools to incorporate gold and copper wire into her minimalist paintings which are characterised by grids, monochromy and serial repetition.
This is her first solo exhibition in Italy, in collaboration with PACE London.
