The Village Market, Limuru Road. Large, upmarket shopping complex in the Gigiri area, which has been laid out to resemble a village. There is a large selection of boutique-style shops selling shoes, clothes and gift items, as well as an art gallery hosting regular exhibitions of work by local artists and a central food court with outside seating on the ground floor. Adam’s Arcade, Ngong Road. Run-down shopping centre serving the lower end of the market, but with a good selection of small shops and eateries including the ubiquitous Java Coffee House, which is a popular meeting place for Nairobians and expats. Other facilities include two internet points and a community notice board. Nakumatt Prestige and a large mitumba, or second-hand clothes market, are just down the road.
Valley Arcade, Gitanga Road. Small shopping complex offering a supermarket, an Italian deli and restaurant, a small internet point with very slow connections, a bakery and a community notice board.
The Junction, Dagoretti Corner, Ngong Road. Small, pleasant shopping centre in the southwestern part of the city. Facilities include a Nakumatt supermarket, Zucchini selling good quality local and imported fruit and vegetables, Java coffee house with free wireless internet, Mediterraneo Italian restaurant, a multi-screen cinema run by Nu Metro of South Africa, a community notice board and a number of small gift shops.
ABC Place, Waiyaki Way. Large and somewhat run-down shopping and business centre in the Westlands/Lavington area. Facilities include a supermarket, a travel agency, Java coffee House, a small bookshop, gift shops, a community notice board and an estate agency.
Karen Crossroads, junction of Langata and Ngong roads. Newly opened shopping mall serving the up-market Karen and Langata communities. Facilities include a Nakumatt supermarket, a bank, a restaurant, curio shops and a travel agency.
Prestige Plaza, Ngong Road. Facilities include a multi-screen cinema and a Nakumatt supermarket which is open 24 hours a day.
Muthaiga shopping centre, Limuru Road. Shopping centre serving the exclusive area of Muthaiga. Facilities include shops, restaurants, a travel agency and a forex bureau.
