Rome's Metro B partially closed

Technical fault shuts down busy central section of Rome's Metro B line.

Rome's Metro B line is currently closed between S. Paolo and Monti Tiburtini/Ionio due to a technical fault on the morning of Thursday 22 October.

The incident occurred during rush hour in the area around the Cavour stop, near Termini station, leading Rome public transport provider ATAC to evacuate several trains. There are substitute buses in circulation, and the metro line is functioning as normal between S. Paolo-Laurentina, and Monti Tiburtini-Rebibbia.

The latest closure comes a month after the Metro A line was closed following a ceiling collapse at Spagna, and a week after a section of the same line shut after an unqualified driver derailed a train at Anagnina. The latter incident led Rome's outgoing transport councillor Stefano Esposito to exclaim: "I feel like crying."

Rome's Metro A and B lines are currently closing at the earlier time of 22.00 in preparation for the upcoming Jubilee year.
