Authorities remove Pope Francis murals from Borgo and Piazza Navona.

A mural depicting Pope Francis kissing a devilish Donald Trump appeared on Via del Banco di S. Spirito in Rome's Borgo area near the Vatican on 11 May.

The image, which was removed promptly by authorities, featured the pontiff dressed as an angel, complete with halo and wings, kissing Trump who was depicted with devil horns and a red cloak.

Another mural of Pope Francis revealing a Superman-style cape under his soutane appeared in the Piazza Navona area on the same day.

The murals, both by Barcelona-based Italian street artist TvBoy, appeared ahead of the Vatican meeting between Pope Francis and the US president on 24 May.

Pope Francis is no stranger to street art in Rome having been depicted numerous times, notably as “Super Pope” by Roman artist Maupal.
