The British Embassy in Rome is reminding British passport holders to make sure that photos supplied with their passport applications meet the new international requirements announced last summer. The embassy will be unable to issue a passport unless photographs meet the necessary standards. The new regulations will enable the production of more secure biometric ePassports as well as the use of facial recognition technology to counter passport fraud and for enhanced checks at international controls. Details of the new regulations are available at www.britishembassy.gov.uk/italy/photos.
