British lads are about to take two weeks out
from their normal lives to undertake a gruelling
2000 km Rome-to-London bike ride in aid of the
UK Bone Cancer Research Trust. Spurred on by
a 26-year-old school friend who was diagnosed
with the disease two years ago, Henry Hunt,
Charlie Pushman, Alec Bartlett and Tom Bishop
will set off on their journey from the Colosseum
on 10 Octat 08.00. Plans for a July start date
were scuppered when Hunt was thrown from his
bike on a training session by a stray sheep,
breaking a wrist in the process, but he’s now
back in the saddle and the four are raring to go.
The initial target of £10,000 was hit earlier in the
year through a charity ball, raffle and auction, so
the target has been raised to £20,000. All sup-
port is very welcome – whether you can turn up
on the day to wave them off or join them to ride
the first few kilometres out of the city. For more
