All motorcycles and scooters in the Euro 0 polluting category will be banned from driving in within Rome’s ZTL “anello ferrovario” from 1 November.

The anello ferrovario extends to Piramide near Ostiense in the south, the Valle Aurelia stop on the metro A line in the west, just beyond Stazione Campi Sportivi in the north and Stazione Tiburtina in the east.

The 1 November ban applies to residents inside the anello ferrovario, who had previously been exempt from the 1 January ban forbidding non-residents to enter the area on Euro 0 bikes.

Most scooters and motorcycles manufactured before 1999 fall into the Euro 0 category. Transgressors will be fined €71, rising to €141 if the driver does not have a bollino blu vehicle pollution health-check certificate. Registered classic motorbikes are exempt from the ban.

For more information and to see a map of the area involved, see www.comune.roma.it, www.assessoratoambiente.it, tel. 060606.
