New street art in Rome

Street art by Alice Pasquini, Gaia and Fintan Magee in Rome.

Roman street artist Alice Pasquini has created a new mural in the capital featuring a couple kissing based on the famous image taken in Paris by Italian photographer Gianni Berengo Gardin in 1954.

The mural, located on Via Bartolmeo Fanfulla in the Pigneto district, and painted in Pasquini's trademark pastel shades, comes ahead of a major exhibition dedicated to Berengo Gardin at Rome's Palazzo delle Esposizioni.

Separately, American street artist Gaia has created a mural entitled Uneven Humanism on the façade of the Caravaggio high school on Viale Carlo Tomasso Odescalchi 75, in the Tor Marancia neighbourhood.

The colourful mural, which features butterflies and smiling children, is themed around migration. Gaia was assisted in the project by the students of the liceo artistico, a school whose curriculum puts greater emphasis on art.

The work is located a couple of blocks away from the Big City Life street art project which contains the Spettacolo, Rinnovamento, Maturità mural by Gaia.

Australian artist Fintan Magee is currently undertaking a mural of a girl and a stag in the west Rome suburb of Primavalle, coinciding with his exhibition at Galleria Varsi near Campo de' Fiori.
