European Heritage Days in Rome

Italian events based around Expo Milan food theme.

A nationwide programme of events takes place in Italy to mark European Heritage Days which is marked across Europe on the weekend of 19-20 September.

This year the 1,000 or so events in Italy are related to the Feeding the Planet: Energy for Life theme of Expo Milan 2015.

There will be a programme of special happenings during the two-day initiative being held at many of Rome’s civic museums, galleries, libraries and archaeological sites which remain open until midnight.

Participating venues include the Baths of Diocletian, Castel S. Angelo, Crypta Balbi, Galleria Spada, Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna (GNAM) Palazzo Venezia, Palazzo Farnese and the Pantheon, while for something completely different, Tramjazz is organising an Afrosamba Show aboard its tram, offering a mixture of live percussion music and apertivi.

Held annually across Europe since 1991, the European Days of Patrimony initiative is designed to emphasise the common cultural heritage shared between Europeans.
