Editorial. Coming to live in Rome
When we first started Wanted in Rome in the mid-1980s English-speaking expats were easy to identify and the city was a place where foreigners could lead a relatively cheap, leisurely and pleasant way of life. The English-speaking community was small and reasonably homogenous, made up mainly of British, Americans, Irish priests and religious, a handful of Australians and Canadians.
Jobs in the United Nations organisations and the institutions that evolved around the Vatican were the most prized. Cinecitt
