Earthquake deaths top 250.
Over 250 people are now known to have died in the earthquake that hit the mountainous Abruzzo region in the early hours of 6 April. Rescuers are continuing to dig among the rubble in search of around ten people still missing although the chances of finding anyone still alive are becoming increasingly slim.
Roughly 1,150 people were injured in the tremor, of whom 100 are in a serious condition. Meanwhile the latest figures put the number of homeless at 25,000, the majority in the regional capital L
