Five bus lines designed especially for Christmas shoppers will run from 8-23 December (except for 17 December), Romes transport authority Atac has announced. The five bus lines will link the ex mercati generali in Via Ostiense with the shopping centre in Viale Marconi (line Sh1), the Vie Candia, Ottaviano and Cola di Rienzo (Sh2), Stazione Ostia and the Idroscalo di Ostia (Sh3), Anagnina metro station and La Romanina shopping centre (Sh4) and Eur Magliana metro station and Laurentina metro station via the shopping centre on Viale Europa (Sh5). The special bus lines will function from 15.30 to 20.30 between 8 and 15 December, and from 10.00 to 20.30 between 16 and 23 December.

Atac will also increase the frequency of buses on lines that connect principal commercial zones in the city from 15.30 to 20.30 between 8 and 15 December and from 15.30-20.30 between 15 and 23 December. More buses will run on the 60, 70, 80, 85, 87, 90, 116, 170, 451, 545 and 791 lines Monday-Saturday, while on Sundays bus frequency will increase on the 60, 70, 80, 85, 87, 90, 116, 170, 451, 545, 791, 2, 20, 32 and 160 lines.

In addition, Atac is running a Due bit al prezzo di uno scheme, which allows shoppers to leave their cars in the car parks of Ponte Mammolo, Anangnina, Laurentina and Saxa Ruba stations at weekends and for two people to use the citys public transport system for the total price of 1, parking included.

The limited traffic zone in the historic centre will also be active from 06.30-20.00 from 11-23 December to free the area from private vehicles and increase the efficiency of public transport. For more information, see www.atac.roma.it.
